Senior center Amy Athey (Cave Spring) poured in 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Saturday as visiting Roanoke held off Bridgewater 72-67 in a battle of Old Dominion Athletic Conference leaders.
The Eagles (16-3 overall, 13-2 ODAC), whose only two conference losses have come at the hands of the Maroons, had a chance to send the game into overtime, but Connie Ritchie rimmed out a 3-point attempt with three seconds to play.
The Maroons (17-1, 14-0) rode the senior trio of Athey, Suzanne Moore (Blacksburg) and Ashley McCallum (William Byrd) to their 17th straight victory. Moore scored 12 points and hit a pair of 3-point goals, and McCallum had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Washington and Lee 76, Randolph-Macon 71: Amber Hinkle and Ansley Miller combined for 47 points as the Generals came from behind to knock off Randolph-Macon in an ODAC game in Lexington.
W&L (8-13, 6-11), which trailed 67-62 with 3:30 to play, fought back to take a 70-69 lead on a layup by Hinkle with 1:19 remaining. Hinkle scored 25 points and Miller 22 for the Generals, who shot 76.2 percent in the first half.
Radford 75, Winthrop 72: Rebecca McNeil (Christiansburg) had 21 points and converted two clinching free throws with 18 seconds left to give the Highlanders a victory in Rock Hill, S.C.
Radford (9-14, 5-6 Big South) blew an 18-point halftime lead but came back in the final minute to run its record against Winthrop to 29-0.
