The Virginia Tech men's tennis team beat No.27 Tennessee 5-2 on Saturday in Knoxville, Tenn., for the Hokies' first win over the Volunteers.
The win marked 13-year coach Larsen Bowker's first against a Southeastern Conference opponent.
Singles winners included All-American Oliver Mayo, Aaron Marchetti, Marek Pfeil and Mark Tepes. Pfeil and Mayo teamed up to win their doubles match and Marchetti paired with Andrew Krafft for a win.
The Hokies evened their record at 1-1.

* The Virginia Tech women's track and field team set four school records in the Days Inn Invitational in Blacksburg.
Junior Katie Ollendick, a former All-Timesland athlete from Blacksburg, set a record in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 17.41 seconds in an eighth-place finish.
Freshman Jennifer Cook set Hokie marks in the 55-meter high hurdles (8.21) and the 200-meter dash (25.49).
Ollendick, Julie Reeser, Danya Gordon and Brandi Smith were members of the 4x400-meter relay team that set a record with a time of 3:52.59.
