PICKEREL SETS STATE RECORD

A 7-pound, 10-ounce pickerel landed Dec.29 at a private lake in Chesterfield County has been certified by the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries as a state record for the species.

The 28 1/4-inch fish was caught by Reginald L. White, of Midlothian, who was using a Bomber Long A lure.

The previous record was a 7-pound, 8-ounce Lake Cohoon catch taken in February 1993 by R.A. Spurlock.
