BURTON, James Sibold, (``Jim''), 77 of Pearisburg, died Monday, February 10, 1997, in Carilion-Giles Memorial Hospital. Mr. Burton was born in Bland County on July 28, 1919, and was a son of the late Sullivan and Della Jane Thompson Burton. He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Burton; and one sister, Daisy Munsey. Jim was retired from the National Gypsum Company. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rowena Brumfield Burton of Pearisburg; three daughters, Birdie Moye of Pearisburg, Betty Burton of Pearisburg, Anna Holt of Pearisburg; two sons, Robert L. Burton of Pearisburg, Jamie Burton of Pearisburg; eight grandchildren, Eric, Jason and Adam Burton of Pearisburg, Travis, Brandon and Brittany Moye of Pearisburg, Dustin Burton of Pearisburg, Kyle Holt of Pearisburg; three sisters, Dolly Perkins of Pearisburg, Mae Perkins of Pearisburg, Eresha Conner of Rich Creek; one brother, Robert Ford Burton of Pearisburg. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Givens Funeral Chapel, Pearisburg, with the Rev. CRAIG, John William Lee, 75, of Radford, passed away at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 1997, in Radford Community Hospital. Mr. Craig was born in Bluefield, W.Va., and grew up in Roanoke before moving to Radford in the late 1940s. He worked for Norfolk & Western Railway for 47 years, interrupted only to serve in the Army Air Corps during World War II where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Craig was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Virginia May Lodge #38 AF&AM, and Past Patron of Virginia May Chapter #92, Order of the Eastern Star. A loving husband and devoted father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Betty Jane Myers Craig of Radford; three sons and daughters-in-law, John W. L. II and Ann Craig, and Mark R. and Joann Craig, all of Radford, and J. David and Sandy Craig of Chesapeake, as well as six grandchildren, Alexander, Katherine, Jacob, Stephanie, Emily and John W. L. III. He also is survived by his sister, Iris Craig Sartini of Roanoke, and his brother and sister-in-law, Melvin R. and Jessie Craig of Goodview. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Central United Methodist Church in Radford, with the Rev. Warren Wattenbarger officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford. ENGLAND, Frances Roy, 70, formerly of Boones Mill, passed away Monday, February 10, 1997, in Washington, D.C. She was born in Boones Mill, the daughter of the late Willie and Nellie Taylor Roy. At an early age she joined the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. After leaving Virginia, she was affiliated with the Isle of Patmos Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. Frances retired as supervisor of food service after 30 years from the District of Columbia Public Schools. She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted sister, Mrs. Katherleen Roy Crockett, Roanoke; one brother, Mr. Milton Roy, Wilmington, Del.; one son, James E. Casey, Wilmington, Del.; a devoted niece, Mrs. Patricia Crockett Smith, North Dakota, and husband, Chief Master Sergeant Curtis L. Smith, North Dakota; a niece, Mrs. Marvie B. Crockett, Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mazie B. Roy, Wilmington, Del. and Mrs. Helen Smith, Boones Mill; one brother-in-law, Mr. Charles England and wife, Julie, North Carolina; four aunts, Mrs. Opal Harris, Martinsville, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin, Axton, Mrs. Blanche Craig, and Mrs. Gladys Jones, both of Roanoke; two uncles, Mr. Howard Roy, Boones Mill, and Mr. James Lee Taylor, Roanoke; nieces; nephews; a host of cousins and friends. FARLING, Iva Sublett, 92, of Bedford, formerly of Vinton, died Tuesday, February 11, 1997. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul David Farling. She is survived by two special nephews, Wayne Sublett, Vinton, Elton Sublett, Bedford; and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. George Wesley Jones officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. FISHER, Henry Clyde, 85, of Route 3, Wytheville, the Cripple Creek Community, died this morning, Tuesday, February 11, 1997, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles K. and Leora C. Fisher; and a son, Donald Jerry (Buddy) Fisher. Mr. Fisher retired from New Jersey Zinc in 1974 with 35 years of service. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lucille H. Fisher, Wytheville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Willard Spraker, Sue and David Jones, Nancy and James Scott, all of Wytheville; three sisters, Lettie Groseclose, Virginia Umberger, Ollie Kincer, all of Wytheville; one brother, Robert ``Bob'' Fisher of Wytheville. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Gillman Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in the Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Gillman Funeral Chapel. HARVEY, Mildred Marie Neeley, 71, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, February 10, 1997, at a local hospital. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her father, E. H. Neeley; mother, Lelia C. Neeley; a brother, Howard Neeley; and a sister, Nita Deeds. Mrs. Harvey was a member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Audrey A. Harvey; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley A. and Len Minter, Vinton, Rebecca S. and Richard Whitacre, Roanoke; three grandchildren, Elizabeth A. and Richard A. Whitacre, Dion L. Minter. HUNTER, Hallie Conley, 83, of Narrows, died Monday evening, February 10, 1997, at the Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, W.Va. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on March 21, 1913, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Allen and Anne Kathryn Brookman Conley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hoge Hunter; two sisters, Anna Rose Conley and Iva Louise Conley; and a brother, Donald Miran Conley. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Narrows and was a member of Lakeland Chapter #74 O.E.S., where she served as Worthy Matron three terms. In 1991 and 1992 she served as Grand Warder in the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Rose Garden Club, and the American Legion Post #68 Auxiliary of Narrows. She is survived by two brothers, Raymond P. Conley of Narrows and James Conley of Princeton, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 13, 1997, at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Narrows with Rev. Larry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. OTEY, Carl Allen, 66, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 1997. He was a lifetime resident of Salem and was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation after 39 years of service. He is sur vived by his wife, Charlotte W. Otey; daughters, Shawna Otey, Salem, Tammy Jones, Rocky Mount, Janet Wilson, Wirtz; brother, James E. Otey, Salem; sisters, Marcella Cassidy, Staffordsville, Mattie Otey and Emmie Otey, both of Salem, Helen Gillette, Clinton, Md.; 8 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews also survive; special friends, Kevin Rider and Tania Boothe. Although we shall miss him, he is now and forever fishing and riding bikes in heaven with the angels. OVERSTREET, Lena Simpson, 87, of Forest, died Sunday, February 9, 1997, in Richmond. She was the wife of the late Frank Leftwich Overstreet. B orn March 28, 1909 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late John Richard and Josie Motley Simpson. A graduate of Lynchburg College, she taught her entire teaching career in Bedford County. She was a member of Timberlake Christian Church. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara O. Allen; two grandchildren, William D. Allen IV and Ann Courtney Allen, all of Richmond; a brother and his wife, J.C. Simpson and Mabel Simpson; a sister, Launa S. Ruoff; a nephew, Wayne Simpson; and a niece, Kitty S. Farris, all of Appomattox. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Timberlake Christian Church with the Rev. Robert E. Surviving are three brothers, Wiley Quesenberry, Radford, Barney Quesenberry, Phoenix, Ariz., and Walter Quesenberry, Valejo, Calif.; three half sisters, Ilene Crigler and Dean Morris, Radford, and Evelyn Lasher, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two stepsis ters, Virginia Dower, Abingdon, and Frances Bowyer, Christiansburg; and a stepbrother, Hobart Roop, Dugspur. REID, EULA GRUBBS, 96 of Roanoke died Tuesday, February 11, 1997. She was a 1923 graduate of Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Reid had been an active member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church. She was the widow J. Grant Reid. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and William Ammen; brother, Leonard C. She was r etired from Roanoke Mills with 43 years service. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Thelma C. SIZEMORE, Lisa Rene Clifton, 26, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, February 8, 1997. She was born in Waukegan, Ill., was employed by Diabetes Self Care Center in Roanoke, and was the loving and devoted mother of her two sons, Drew Scott Sizemore and Michael David Sizemore, both of Roanoke. Also surviving are her father, Paul R. Clifton, Jacksonville, N. C.; her mother and stepfather, Margaret and Claude Ferguson, Roanoke; a brother, Eric Paul Clifton, Jacksonville, N. C.; maternal grandparents, David and Edith Olson, Minneapolis, Minn.; her former spouse and his parents, Lee Sizemore, Herschel and Joyce Sizemore, all of Roanoke; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. TURNER, Sally, of Charlottesville, artist and wife of retired University of Virginia Associate Professor of Art, Theodore R. Turner, died Monday, February 10, 1997, in Charlottesville. Mrs. Turner was born Sara Sargent in 1916 in Jefferson, Ohio to Judge Charles R. and Olive Sargent. After graduating from Wellesley College and Parsons School of Design, she studied painting in New York at the Arts Student League and the Hans Hoffman School of Art and worked in advertising on Madison Avenue. During World War II, she served as an artist in the U.S. Navy. In recent years her work has been the subject of one-person shows at the McGuffey Art Center and Second Street Gallery in Charlottesville, the Foundry Gallery in Washington, D.C., the Roanoke Museum of Fine Art, and Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach. Mrs. Turner is survived by her husband, Ted; three daughters, Suzanna Turner of Palmyra, Vicki R. Morgan of McLean, and Jane E. Quinn of Earlysville; two brothers, C. Frederick Sargent of Charlottesville and Robert C. Sargent of Earlysville; and seven grandchildren, Sara Morgan, Hunter Quinn, Elizabeth Morgan, Cameron Quinn, Christopher Morgan, Reid Quinn, and Nicholas Quinn. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 1997, at Monticello Memory Gardens on Monticello Mountain.
