AGEE, Annie Brickey, 94, of Radford, passed away Saturday, February 15, 1997, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blacksburg. She was a member of Carter Street United Methodist Church, and was a retired Dietary Supervisor for Carilion Radford Community Hospital with 31 years of service. Survivors include one daughter, Brunhilda A. Fowler of Radford; one son, Douglas F. Agee of Rocky Mount; three grandchildren, Jeannie Bain, Michael Agee and Cindy Runyon; three great-grandchildren, Tom Bain, Carrie Bain and Crystal Agee, and one sister, Mrs. Eva Hughes of Pulaski. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 17, 1997, at Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford, with the Rev. Warren Wattenbarger and the Rev. Julian Smith officiating. HILLMAN, John A., 92, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 1997. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen B. Hillman; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Hillman, and brothers and sisters. He is su rvived by six nephews, Alva T. Hillman, Wesley V. Hillman, Wallace M. Hillman and Charles R. Hillman of Roanoke, Carlton E. Stanley of Bedford and S. Edward Hillman of San Diego, Calif., and two nieces, Sara S. Hurst of Roanoke and Jean H. Strickland of Spotsylvania Court House. He is also survived by a dear Christian friend, Miss Gladys Childess. KINGREA, Garnett Algene, (``Gene""), 81, of 210 Hurst Street, Pulaski, passed away Saturday, February 15, 1997, in Pulaski Community Hospital. Born on October 13, 1915, in Mt. View (Giles County), he was a son of the late John William Kingrea and Mary Lou Hopkins Kingrea. He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Robie Manuel; two sisters, and five brothers. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was loved by everyone who knew him. POINDEXTER, Zeb Grigg, 73, of Roanoke, died Friday, February 14, 1997, in a Salem hospital. He retired as Director of Transportation and Safety and Personnel for Valley Metro on July 28, 1989, after 47 years of service, beginning his career as a streetcar driver in 1942. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. Zeb was a man who dedicated himself and his life to his family. Anyone who ever met him was touched by his warmth and sincerity toward others. Zeb always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart, and to know his was to love him. He was the backbone of our family, providing constant love, care and strength. He will be forever missed by his wife of 50 years and his family. He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Brady Poindexter. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Hubbard Poindexter of Roanoke; three children, John Thomas Poindexter of Roanoke, Timothy Francis Poindexter and wife, Kristy Anne Poindexter of Rocky Mount, and Teresa P. Jones and husband, Billy W. Jones of Roanoke; sister, Christine P. Lindsay of Richmond; brother, Brady Woodrow Poindexter of Roanoke, and four grandchildren, Tonya Joi Poindexter, Amy Marie Poindexter, Julie Anne Poindexter and Kelsey Elizabeth Jones. She was a member of the Wytheville Church of God of Prophecy and was preceded in death by her husband, James Guy Semones and a son, Jack W. Semones. SPAIN, Nannie Estelle, 81, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, February 15, 1997. Mrs. Spain was a member of West End United Methodist Church. She was a member of Carrie Lee Chapter #108 O.E.S. Mrs. Spain was the widow of Walter Reed Spain, and is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard E. Sr. and Treva K. Spain of Roanoke, and four grandchildren and their spouses, Richard E. Spain Jr., Penny S. and James Ramey, Tammy Slone, and Eric and Lisa Spain, all of Roanoke. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren. STEVENSON, Susie Wood, 95, of Forest and formerly of Middleburgh, N.Y., died Wednesday, February 12, 1997, at Guggenheimer Nursing Home after a long illness. Born May 5, 1901, in Gilboa, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John Wood and Cora Wycoff Wood. Mrs. Stevenson was a graduate of Middleburgh High School and Albany Business College and was first employed at First National Bank of Middleburgh. An ardent homemaker, for many years she was a partner in Stevenson's Jewelry Store. She served as Middleburgh Village Clerk from April 1955 through March 1961 and several years as bookkeeper for Woods Service Station. She was the oldest living member of Middleburgh United Methodist Church and the Schoharie Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and was Past Chapter Regent. She was married to Arthur U. Stevenson in 1921, who preceded her in death on March 16, 1964. She is survived by three daughters, Esther Youngs and her husband, Robert of Blacksburg, Helene Farrell and her husband, John of Middleburgh, N.Y., and Marion Webber of Forest; one son, John W. Stevenson and his wife, Jean Anne of Virginia Beach; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; five nephews and three nieces. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 1997 at Palmer and Shaylor Funeral Home, 63 River St., Middleburgh, N.Y. Interment will follow in Middleburgh Cemetery. THORNTON, Ethel Raye Meredith, 89, of Route 1, Dublin, went home to be with Jesus, Saturday, February 15, 1997, in the Radford Community Hospital. Born October 2, 1907, in Pulaski Co., Va. She was the daughter of the late George Riley Meredith and Ada Florence Thornton Meredith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Harvey Thornton; a son, Freeman Harrell Thornton; a number of sisters and brothers; and a daughter-in-law, Pat Thornton. She was a member of the Dublin Church of God Dublin, Va. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Bobby (Opal Mae) Simpson, Dublin; Mrs. E.J. (Freeda) Burton, Dublin, Mrs. James (Beatrice) Baxter, Pittsburgh, Penn., Mrs. Jerry (Frances) Zarbock, San Bernardino, Calif.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Bonnie Thornton, Dublin, Horace Thornton, Dublin, Carl and Jean Thornton, Pulaski, Garland Thornton, Spring Hill, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Thornton, Radford; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
