ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

Travel in the Blue Ridge Parkway's Roanoke district was off 33.7 percent in January compared with the same month last year and down 75.3 percent from January 1995. The parkway's Virginia section recorded a gain of 26.1 percent compared to last year while the whole parkway reported an increase of 83.6 percent.

Within the Roanoke district 10,320 visitors used Virginia 24 east of Vinton to enter the parkway during January.
