An armed man threatened customers at a Roanoke fast food restaurant late Monday, but did not take anything.
Police said a man walked into a restroom at the McDonald's at 2801 Franklin Road S.W. about 11:13 p.m., just before closing time. He pointed a pistol at a customer who had followed him into the restroom, then tried to grab the customer. The customer escaped, running through the door then shutting it on the man's arm. The gun fired, and its slide fell to the floor. No one was injured.
The man came out of the bathroom and replaced the slide to his gun. About five customers and employees ran to the rear of the restaurant as he waved his gun at them.
Police believe the man escaped through the drive-through window.
