Archeological society to meet in Radford

RADFORD - The New River Chapter of the Archeological Society of Virginia will meet at the Radford Public Library, 30 First St. at 7 tonight.

Craig Lukezic, archeologist with the Virginia Department of Transportation Environmental Services will speak on "Historic Roads of Virginia." The meeting is free and open to the public.

Funds OK'd to restore habitat

CHRISTIANSBURG - Funding has been appropriated for the habitat restoration of the Roanoke Log Perch. Projects such as streambank restoration, fencing and alternative watering systems for livestock are being offered to approved landowners along the North and South forks and tributaries of the Roanoke River.

The program is made available through the cooperation of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Resource Conservation Service, and the Skyline Soil and Water Conservation District.
