The Blue Ridge Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society invites area bicyclists to enjoy a two-day ride through some of Virginia's most beautiful scenery.
The ninth annual "Bike to the Border" will be held June 7 and 8, starting in Charlottesville and ending at the Virginia/ North Carolina border. Longwood College in Farmville will provide overnight lodging.
The entry requirement is $150 in pledges. Funds will benefit research and assist the more than 1,750 people in the Blue Ridge region who have MS.
The MS Society expects more than 500 cyclists with every level of experience to participate. The route does not have extremely difficult hills. The tour will provide food and drink rest stops every 10 to 15 miles. There will be medical attendants for the riders and mechanics for the bikes. Support vehicles will patrol the entire ride to provide a lift for weary riders.
A festival on Sunday evening includes swimming, live entertainment and food.
To enter the tour or to ask questions, call (804) 971-8010 or 1-(800) 451-0373.
