HE'S A FIGHTER

LENGTH: Short : 25 lines
ILLUSTRATION: PHOTO: ASSOCIATED PRESS. CADET TALSEY CUNNINGHAM (right) and

Stafford County deputy sheriff John Barnham discuss a follow-up

investigation - and Talsey's cancer treatments. The 16-year-old's

lifelong dream of becoming a police officer has been sidelined by a

rare form of cancer that is lodged behind Talsey's nose and in his

lymph nodes. The doctors say the cancer is inoperable, but Talsey

has no intention of surrendering to it. ``He's convinced he's going

to get well,'' his mother said. ``He told me, `I'm not sick. They

have medicine for this, and they're going to make me well.''' Story
