lifelong dream of becoming a police officer has been sidelined by a
rare form of cancer that is lodged behind Talsey's nose and in his
lymph nodes. The doctors say the cancer is inoperable, but Talsey
has no intention of surrendering to it. ``He's convinced he's going
to get well,'' his mother said. ``He told me, `I'm not sick. They
have medicine for this, and they're going to make me well.''' Story
