The Bedford County School Board will get at least three new members next year.
Billy Tuck and Jackie Preston, two of four School Board members whose terms expire in December, said Thursday they will not seek election to the board. They were appointed to the eight-member board by the Board of Supervisors before the county started electing school board members. Four of the eight members were elected nearly two years ago.
Elizabeth Bailey, who represents Bedford city with the board's only nonelected slot, was not reappointed by Bedford City Council, so she will also step down in December. City Council will pick her replacement.
Donna Templeton, the fourth member whose term also expires, has not announced her intentions.
Tuck has served on the board nearly 20 years, representing the Moneta District.
Preston, a 10-year board member, represents the Huddleston District.
