RAPE CASE FORWARDED

A Botetourt County Juvenile and Domestic Relations judge certified to the grand jury charges of rape and sodomy against a Fincastle man Tuesday.

The charges against Liniel G. "Trey" Gregory, 31, will be heard by a Botetourt grand jury June2.

Gregory's 20-year-old former girlfriend, a Roanoke woman, told Botetourt Sheriff's Investigator Beth Musselwhite that she had gone to Gregory's cabin Feb.19 at his invitation, according to a search warrant filed in Botetourt Circuit Court. He initiated sex, she said, and when she refused, he forced it on her.

Gregory, a former Roanoke police officer, said in a statement Tuesday that he maintains his innocence and expects to be found not guilty.
