CANTRELL'S FLOYD COUNTY TEAM WAS WILLING TO RUN AND PRESS WITH SURRY COUNTY WHEN EVERYONE THOUGHT THE BUFFALOES MIGHT HAVE NEEDED TO PLAY A TEMPO GAME. CANTRELL BEAT OUT GLENVAR'S ART LAWRENCE, WHOSE HIGHLANDERS HAD ONLY ONE RETURNING STARTER AND STILL MADE THE STATE TOURNAMENT, AND ROLAND LOVELACE, WHO TOOK OVER AT WILLIAM FLEMING AND GUIDED THE COLONELS BACK TO THE GROUP AAA TOURNAMENT. COREY REYNOLDS, SENIOR, 6-0, PATRICK COUNTY SEASON STATISTICS: REYNOLDS WAS THE LEADING SCORER IN TIMESLAND, WITH A 26.9 AVERAGE. HE HIT 30 POINTS OR BETTER 10 TIMES, WITH A HIGH OF 40 IN A 75-62 VICTORY AGAINST CARROLL COUNTY. REYNOLDS SHOT 77.4 PERCENT FROM THE FREE-THROW LINE, WHERE HE MADE MORE SHOTS THAN ANYONE ELSE ATTEMPTED IN TIMESLAND. HE ALSO SHOT 31.8 PERCENT FROM 3-POINT RANGE AND WAS THE PIEDMONT DISTRICT PLAYER OF THE YEAR. FAVORITE TV SHOW: I DON'T WATCH MUCH TELEVISION. I READ A LOT. BUT ANY NBA GAME. CHARLES BURNETTE, SENIOR, 6-4, WILLIAM FLEMING SEASON STATISTICS: BURNETTE AVERAGED 13.5 POINTS AND 7.7 REBOUNDS A GAME AS A LEADER OF A TEAM THAT USED EIGHT OR NINE PLAYERS MOST NIGHTS AND HAD A BALANCED ATTACK. ONE OF HIS BEST GAMES WAS A 21-POINT EFFORT AS THE COLONELS SHOCKED DEFENDING GROUP AAA CHAMPION GEORGE WASHINGTON-DANVILLE 75-60 IN THE NORTHWEST REGION TOURNAMENT. FAVORITE TV SHOW: ``NEW YORK UNDERCOVER.'' FAVORITE PRO SPORTS TEAM: DALLAS COWBOYS. JOB I DREAM OF DOING IN LIFE: BEING A SPORTS BROADCASTER DOING BASKETBALL GAMES. THE GAME I REMEMBER THE MOST IN MY HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: THE GW-DANVILLE BASKETBALL GAME THIS YEAR. WE HAD NEVER BEATEN THEM IN FOOTBALL OR BASKETBALL. DEVON ``BOO'' BATTLE, JUNIOR, 6-4, PATRICK HENRY SEASON STATISTICS: BATTLE WAS ONE OF TIMESLAND'S MOST INTIMIDATING PLAYERS, AVERAGING 22.4 POINTS AND 10.6 REBOUNDS PER GAME WHILE BLOCKING MANY SHOTS WHEN PATRIOTS OPPONENTS VENTURED INSIDE. HE SHOT 56.9 PERCENT FROM THE FIELD, AND HAD HIS BEST GAMES WITH 34 POINTS AGAINST MARTINSVILLE AND 31 IN A VICTORY AT E.C. GLASS. FAVORITE TV SHOW: ``NEW YORK UNDERCOVER.'' FAVORITE PRO SPORTS TEAM: DALLAS COWBOYS. JOB I DREAM OF DOING IN LIFE: SOME KIND OF PRO ATHLETE, BUT I'M UNDECIDED WHICH SPORT. PHILIP KLAUS, SENIOR, 6-6, BLACKSBURG SEASON STATISTICS: KLAUS CAPPED A GREAT CAREER BY AVERAGING 20.8 POINTS AND9.0 REBOUNDS PER GAME AS THE INDIANS WON THE BLUE RIDGE DISTRICT TOURNAMENT INTHEIR FIRST YEAR AS A MEMBER OF THE LEAGUE. KLAUS, THE PLAYER OF THE YEAR IN THE DISTRICT, HAD HIS BEST GAME WHEN THE INDIANS HANDED GRAHAM ITS ONLY REGULAR-SEASON LOSS, 69-52, AS HE HE SCORED 34 POINTS. FAVORITE TV SHOW: ``SEINFELD.''
