Wasena Elementary
They call Linda Bailey "the homework queen." It's a title she proudly wears.
"I make them work really hard," says Bailey of her fourth-grade pupils. "I'm a strong believer in the work ethic."
Bailey, who has taught elementary school for 25 years, says: "When things come too easily, they don't have as much pride in what they've done. It's most rewarding when I have someone come back after years and say I helped instill good work habits in them."
"Mrs. Bailey doesn't give homework to be mean. She wants students to learn a lot, and the homework is to help them learn more," said her nominator. "Kids complain sometimes, but after being in Mrs. Bailey's class, I felt like I was ready to do the hard work in middle school and high school."
Bailey, who lives in Blue Ridge with her husband and two dogs, enjoys traveling, decorating, reading, and researching the Titantic and ancient Egypt.
