WHO, WHEN & WHERE

Irish poet to read works

Irish Poet John Montague will read from his works as part of Washington & Lee University's celebration of National Poetry Month. The program will be held April 28 at 4 p.m. in Leyburn Library's Northen Auditorium.

Montague's work include: "The Rough Field," "The Great Cloak," The Dead Kingdom" and "Collected Poems." He has also written short stories and Irish anthologies.

A "broadside" or special-edition souvenir copy of one of Montague's poems will be available to the public reading.

Mrs. Va. pageant

The Mrs. Virginia America Pageant is accepting applications for the preliminary contest leading to Mrs. America. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn-Central in Richmond on June 7-8. Applicants must be 18 years old, currently married, a U.S. citizen and resident of Virginia. There is no talent competition.
