ERNESTINE S. HALE

{LEAD} Ernestine Saxon Hale, 87, of the 300 block of Effingham St., died Monday, May 30, 1994, in a hospital.

Mrs. Hale, a native of Savannah, Ga., was retired from auditing and accounting with civil service. She was the widow of Samuel K. Hale. She was a member of Monumental United Methodist Church and the Portsmouth Woman's Club.

{REST} Survivors include her son, Fletcher C. Hale of Lynchburg, Va.; two sisters, Martha S. Dickey and Mary DeBrand, both of Portsmouth; and a grandchild.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Arthur W. Wingfield in Foster Funeral Home with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Monumental United Methodist Church.
