Mrs. Carpenter was a native of Warrenton, Va., and was the widow of Ernest Carpenter.
{REST} Survivors include one daughter, Estelle C. Edwards of Franklin; six sons, Reuben Carpenter of Franklin, Ernest M. Carpenter of Petersburg, Jonas P. Carpenter of Franklin, Joe Carpenter of Portsmouth, Mack H. Carpenter of Courtland and George A. Carpenter of Illinois; one sister, Florence Geneva Nixon of Suffolk; one brother, John B. Duck of Smithfield; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and suggest memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, c/o Mrs. June Duck, 100 Fairview Drive, Franklin, Va. 23851.
