Mr. Phelps was a native of Windsor, N.C. He was a member of Cary First Baptist Church, Cary Masonic Lodge (NU)198 and was owner-operator of Phelps Electric Service.
{REST} Surviving are his wife, Maxine Phelps of the home; sons, Dennis Miles Phelps and daughter-in-law, Sharon Phelps of Cary and Alan Christopher Phelps of the home; a daughter, Wendy Leigh Phelps of the home; a sister, Theresa Lewis of Windsor; brothers, Murray Phelps and Roger Phelps of Windsor; and grandchildren, Brandy and Daniel Phelps of Cary.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Cary First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Cary, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 27624, Raleigh, N.C. 27611.
