ROBERT H. GRIMES SR.

{LEAD} Robert Henry Grimes Sr., 70, of Route 1, Box 65, a retired security guard, died June 5, 1994, in Norfolk.

Mr. Grimes was the son of the late Carey C. and Elizabeth B. Grimes of Portsmouth. He was retired from West Point Pepperell with 25 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Christian Church in Winton, N.C. He was a member of the Roanoke Chowan Wildlife Club and was a voting delegate of Pleasant Plains Senior Citizens Club. He served on the Hertford County Planning and Advising Committee for older adults and was a member of District 1A North Carolina Association of Senior Citizens clubs.

{REST} Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Askew Grimes; two sons, Richard L. Grimes of Harrellsville, N.C., and Robert H. Grimes Jr.of Eure, N.C., a sister, Frances Grimes Nelson of Chesapeake; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the estate of Mr. Grimes to help defer hospital cost. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Harrell Funeral Home, Gatesville, N.C., will be handling arrangements.
