LOCAL LOTTERY WINNER

{LEAD} A Norfolk resident who stopped at a convenience store Saturday night is glad he did: He found out he shares a $2 million lottery jackpot he won in March.

Wayne J. Ward collected the first portion of his winnings Monday in Richmond. He said he had not realized that he held the winning numbers until he went to the store and saw the lucky combination on a sign.

{REST} Ward bought his winning ticket at Ameristop Food Mart at 1881 E. Ocean View Ave. in Norfolk. The store received a $5,000 bonus for selling one of the winning tickets.

Ward, who works as a plumber, got $49,012.60 before taxes Monday. He will receive 19 annual payments of $51,500 before taxes.

The other half of the March 12 jackpot was claimed March 17 by Charlie K. Wood of Charlottesville.
