LOW-INCOME HOUSING

{LEAD} Ground was broken Tuesday in Nassawadox for the Sawmill Apartments.

State grants exceeding $1 million will be used to build or renovate low-income housing for 18 families.

{REST} Fourteen rental units and three condominium-style, owner-occupied units will be built. One house will be rehabilitated, and 18 old houses will be demolished.

The project, on Route 13, will include water and sewage systems for the housing, plus a roadway, parking areas and a playground. Two neighborhood stores will be rehabilitated.
