GEORGE A. COPELAND

{LEAD} George Alexander Copeland, 74, of the 500 block of Merriman Ave., died June 8, 1994, in McGuire VA Medical Center, Richmond, Va.

Mr. Copeland was a lifelong resident of Murfreesboro and had retired as a bookkeeper for Northwestern Oil Company. He was a Navy veteran of World War II attached with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific and was a member of Murfreesboro Baptist Church and the American George Masonic Lodge.

{REST} Survivors include his wife, Louise Phipps Copeland; two daughters, Katherine C. Brett and Karen Michelle Copeland; one son, George Randall Copeland, all of Murfreesboro; one brother, Rorie H. Copeland of Edenton, N.C.; two granddaughters, Heather Brett and Melanie Brett; and one aunt, Helen Parker of Norfolk.

A graveside burial of the ashes will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Riverside Cemetery, Murfreesboro, by the Rev. Rowland Pruette. The family will receive friends at the residence and suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Wright Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
