He was a native of Rocky Mount, N.C., and was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. He retired from Virginia Transit Co. after 30 years of service. He was also a member of Moose Lodge (NU)39.
{REST} He is survived by his wife, Mabel B. Whitehorne, one daughter, three sons, four sisters, one brother, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church by the Rev. James R. Neill III. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m., and also at the residence.
