Jo Lynne DeMary, 48, now an assistant superintendent for instruction in Henrico County, where Bosher was superintendent before he assumed his state role, will become state division chief for instruction. Thomas Lee Shortt, now principal of Atlee High School in Hanover County, will become state director of secondary education.
{REST} DeMary and Shortt will take office July 1.
The appointments follow a staff shuffle among the top ranks at the Department of Education and other state departments under Gov. George F. Allen. From the time he assumed his position in January, Bosher, an Allen appointee, has announced his intention to reorganize the department structure put in place by his controversial predecessor, Joseph A. Spagnolo Jr.
At least two top administrators, a deputy superintendent and an assistant superintendent, have lost their jobs. At least two others, a deputy superintendent and a division chief, have been demoted.
