STEPFATHER CHARGED WITH MURDER IN BABY'S DEATH

{LEAD} The stepfather of a baby found unconscious in an apartment earlier this week was arrested Friday and charged with murder and felony child neglect.

Christopher Savage, 20, will be arraigned in Juvenile and Domestic Court on Monday morning, police spokesman Larry Hill said. He is being held on $10,000 bail.

{REST} Police investigators have cleared the baby's pregnant mother, Donna Savage, of wrongdoing, Hill said.

The 10-month-old, Calabe Urban, was pronounced dead on arrival Wednesday morning at DePaul Hospital. The baby was found in the Savages' apartment in the 9600 block of Mason Creek Road after the couple called 911 about 8:30 a.m.

An examination found that the infant had died of internal injuries.

Robin Dunn, who lives beneath the Savages' apartment, said she awoke around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday to ``constant banging'' on the floor of the Savages' master bedroom.

``We were disturbed by them often,'' she said. ``They were always fighting.''

Police did not release details of the case. The family declined to be interviewed.
