TODAY, THE VIRGINIAN-PILOT AND THE LEDGER-STAR INTRODUCE A DIFFERENT KIND OF

{LEAD} Today, The Virginian-Pilot and The Ledger-Star introduce a different kind of editorial page. We have wrestled with how to use more of your letters (we had space to print only about 25 percent of those we receive.) Therefore, we will try making Saturday a special forum in which readers can express their views.

Though letters on all topics will be welcome, we will also institute a "Reader Debate" feature, which will ask readers a question about a subject in the news and ask them to write in with their comments. We will also be printing a selection of cartoons from around the country.
