9 TO REPRESENT BEACH SCHOOLS IN KANSAS CITY

{LEAD} Nine Virginia Beach high school students qualified at the 1994 Patrick Henry District Tournament for the eight-day National Championships of the National Forensic League in Kansas City beginning June 19.

The league is the national honor society for speech and debate. First Colonial High School and Tallwood High School were the first and second place winners in the tournament sweepstakes. The overall tournament champions from the first four Patrick Henry District tournaments have all been from Virginia Beach: 1991 - Bayside; 1992 - Salem; 1993 - Tallwood; 1994 - First Colonial.

{REST} Students qualifying for nationals from Virginia Beach were:

Policy Debate - Jordan Cross and Kari Wilson, First Colonial High School.

Lincoln-Douglas Debate - Michael Gentry, Tallwood; and Colin Miller, First Colonial.

Original Oratory - Heidi Giroux, First Colonial High School.

Humorous Interpretation - Chad Honeycutt, Princess Anne High School.

Student Congress - Senate, Michael Kurz, First Colonial High School; and House, Mark Kronenthal and Cheryl Mazur, First Colonial High School.
