ROBERT D. COX JR.

{LEAD} Capt. Robert D. Cox Jr., USN, Ret., 79, of the 3100 block of East Cheltingham Place, died June 8, 1994, in Springhouse Estates, Pa.

He was a native of Hemingway, S.C., and was a retired U.S. Navy Captain veteran of World War II. He was a member of Bayside Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of the 1938 class of Annapolis and was a member of the Retired Officers Association. He received his masters degree from North Carolina State University and was a former professor of mathematics at Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach Campus.

{REST} He is survived by his wife, Cora W. Cox; one daughter, Kathryn Cox West of Virginia Beach; three sons, Dr. Robert D. Cox III of Anderson, S.C., Cdr Mariner G. Cox, USN, Ret. of Stafford, Va., and Lt. Col. Donald Cox of Valrico, Fla.; one sister, Frances Thomas of Charleston, S.C.; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bayside Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Will Kiser-Lowarce. Burial will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park. Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
