MAN IN SERIOUS CONDITION AFTER HEAD-ON COLLISION

{LEAD} A Navy man remained in serious condition Monday night at Virginia Beach General Hospital from head injuries he suffered in a head-on collision early Saturday on Shore Drive.

Stephen L. Bryant, 21, of 2200 Ocean View Ave. was driving his 1989 Chrysler convertible at high speed near Seashore State Park in the 2500 block of Shore Drive shortly after midnight when his car struck a 1988 Plymouth, Virginia Beach police said.

{REST} Bryant was going westbound in the eastbound lanes, police spokesman Mike Carey said. Carey said that alcohol was involved and that charges against Bryant are pending.

Bryant, stationed at Norfolk Naval Air Station, was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from his car.

The driver of the second car was Tina Hosch, 21, of the 119th Transportation Company at Fort Story. Her passenger was Eugene Greer Jr., 22, also of the 119th Transportation Company. Both were in stable condition Monday night at Portsmouth Naval Hospital after being transferred there from Virginia Beach General, Carey said.
