{LEAD} Jamila Jordan, daughter of Evelyn and Darryle Pollard Sr., was presented the Buck Harris Award by the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast.

Jamila, a member of Cadette Troop 457, is a seventh- grader at Lake Taylor Middle School. She has been active in Girl Scouting for three years, participating in community service projects, such as Scouting For Food, and serving as a representative to the Girl Advisory Board.

{REST} She received the award because she ``personifies Girl Scout excellence.'' The award was established in honor of former Girl Scout Executive Director Buck Harris, and to her dedication to environmental education.

Jamilia received a pin, a certificate, and a fee-paid week at Girl Scout camp, or another council event.

\ Dr. Valerie S. Saddler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Leo Saddler of Norfolk and assistant professor of Mass Communication at Winston Salem State University in North Carolina, has been named a fellow in the American Press Institute's 1994 Minority Journalism Educators Fellowship Program.

\ Denise Williams and Richard Clark were presented with the 1994 Ebenezer Stevens awards during the public works departments 13th annual employee recognition banquet.

Williams, who has worked for the city for nine years, is an office assistant III. Clark, who has worked for the city for four years, is an asphalt plant operator. They each received a $200 savings bond and plaque, as well as a day off from work.
