POPULAR GROUP JOINING `JAMMIN' ' IN FRANKLIN

{LEAD} Fat Ammon's band will perform tonight at another in the series of ``We Be Jammin' '' concerts sponsored by the Franklin Downtown Business Association.

The music - plus the eats and drinks - will be served from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on South Main Street, adjacent to the bulkhead by Be-Lo.

{REST} Ammon and his fellow musicians have been entertaining for more than a decade, mostly in and around Hampton Roads.

Sometimes they wander up and down the coast, from Florida to Canada, offering their energetic, mixed-musical-bag shows.

There are five lead vocalists, four horns and a rhythm section.

A fair amount of choreography goes into a performance by Fat Ammon's Band, which performs at country clubs, conventions, colleges, festivals and night clubs.

The band often gets the audience involved by asking for requests.

The group features songs by, among many others, the Everly Brothers, the Righteous Brothers, the Isley Brothers, the Osmond Brothers, Presley, the Platters, Lloyd Price, Sam Cooke, Bill Haley's Comets and Garth Brooks.

Kathy Gardiner of Advantage Hospitality in Washington referred to Fat Ammon's Band as ``the best band I ever booked.''
