CLYDE S. CARTER

{LEAD} Clyde S. Carter, 80, of the 100 block of Hurdle Drive, died Thursday in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mr. Carter was born in Advance, N.C., and was the son of the late Perley L. and Celia Allen Carter. He had retired from the Atlantic Yacht Basin after more than 25 years of service.

{REST} Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Irene Carter; two daughters, Mae Harrison of Chesapeake and Coleen Curry of Lexington, N.C.; one son, James Carter, also of Chesapeake; four sisters, Gertrude Crews of Advance, N.C., Ruth Watts of Charlotte, N.C., Velma Harrison and Dorothy Williams, both of Lexington, N.C.; one brother, Lawrence Carter of Greensboro, N.C.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, N.C., with burial following in Forest Hill Cemetery, Lexington. The family will receive friends at Oman Family Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
