DOCTOR IMPROVES

{LEAD} The condition of Dr. Hae K. Koh, the Virginia Beach physician who was struck by lightning Tuesday, was upgraded to guarded/serious Thursday. She had been on the critical list.

She and a Sentara Health Systems executive have been hospitalized since they were were struck by lightning on the third hole of the Greenbrier Country Club golf course.

The executive, Mark C. Rheins, was still in critical condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, a spokeswoman said.

Koh and Rheins were burned and knocked to the ground by the lightning. Other golfers, who were playing in Sentara's annual medical staff tournament, administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
