WESTERN BRANCH NAMES TOP ATHLETES

{LEAD} Annyce Treherne was named Western Branch High's most outstanding female athlete, and Chris Viola won the Reggie Jordan Award as the school's most outstanding male athlete.

Best all-around female athlete honors went to three-sport letterman Holly Patterson. Junior Donald ``Dre'' Bly garnered the Phil Bryant Award as the best all-around male athlete.

{REST} The Phil Bryant-Reggie Jordan Brotherhood award went to Rene Guity and Eric Santomauro. Paige Gregory captured the Anthony Watkins Faithful Servant Award.

Bryant and Jordan were former Bruin athletes who were killed in January, 1977, when the car they were riding in collided with a train after basketball practice. Watkins also was a former athlete who died during his first year at West Texas State.

Honored as three-sport letter winners during their junior and senior years were Patterson, Hank Savedge, Jason Lowder and Melissa Bonelli.

Spring sports awards went to:

Tennis - Frankie Graves, most outstanding; Donnie King and Mike Lawrence, co-most valuable, and Kwang Kim, sportsmanship.

Boys' track - Malik Cook, most valuable; Savedge, leadership; Eric Jordan, outstanding runner; Tony Smith, outstanding field event.

Girls' track - Meredith Turnage, most valuable; Dionne Dunston, most outstanding; Erica Hudson, most dedicated; Tenisha Pugh, most improved.

Girls' soccer - Patterson, most valuable; Amy Osborne, best all around; MacKenzie Martin, best defender; Lindsay Martin, most improved.

Boys' soccer - Tony Thomas, most valuable and best defensive player; Robbie Woodard, best offensive player.

Baseball - Jimmy Anderson, most outstanding; Jason Howell, most improved; Nick Ardagna, most valuable.

Softball - Calee Morris, outstanding offense; Nicole Belote, utility player; Andrea Martin, coaches award.
