He was a native of Union, S.C. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard BMC; also parts manager for Link-Belt Construction Equipment Co. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a Coast Guard veteran of Korea and the Vietnam War and a member of Fleet Reserve Association and Deep Creek Ruritan Club.
{REST} Survivors include his wife, Emily M. Nix; two sons, Clifford G. Nix of Virginia Beach and Glenn E. Nix of Atlanta; four sisters, Sylvia Wilder of Alabama, Joyce Philips of Greenville, S.C., Geraldine Atkins of Chesapeake and Barbara Jean Ragsdale of Portsmouth; four brothers, Carl Price of Gas City, Ind., Alan Nix of Columbia, S.C., Rommie Williams of Norfolk and Thomas J. Moore of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Grant Nix and Spencer Nix; stepmother, Idell Nix of Simpsonville, S.C.; brother-in-law, Ray Grant; and daughter-in-law, Karen Nix.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
