JAMES K. EDGERTON

{LEAD} James Kenneth ``Kenny'' Edgerton, 56, of the 1300 block of Cypress Place, a retired salesman, died June 17, 1994, in a Chesapeake hospital.

Mr. Edgerton was born in Kenly, N.C. He had retired from Moore's Building Supply and was a lifetime member of Stumpy Lake Golf Club. In April 1989, he was inducted in the Oscar F. Smith High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Edgerton was a former professional baseball player who played for a time in the St. Louis Cardinals farm system.

{REST} Survivors include his wife, Sue Edgerton; a daughter, Dana Lopez, and a son, Jeffrey Edgerton, both of Chesapeake; three sisters, Jean Simmers of Virginia Beach and Patricia Edwards and Mae Thorne Edwards, both of Princeton, N.C.; a brother, Robert Edgerton of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Joshua Edgerton and Melissa Lopez, both of Chesapeake, and Chris Lopez and Laura Lopez, both of Virginia Beach. He was anticipating the birth of a fifth grandchild. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Sandra Whitley, and a stepson, Robert Whitley, Jr., both of Chesapeake.

A funeral will be conducted at 11a.m. Monday in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Fred Bates. Burial will be in Windsor, Va. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 5 p.m. today and at the residence all other times. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hampton Roads Junior Admirals.
