HENRY J. MCLAIN

{LEAD} Henry James McLain, 50, of the 3000 block of Ashlawn Terrace, a retired gunnery sergeant, died June 16, 1994, in his residence.

Mr. McLain was born in Portland, Ore., and was a Lutheran. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps and was also retired from the Naval Operations Base Police Department as a sergeant. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.

{REST} Survivors include his wife, Juliet H. McLain; one daughter, Jenifer Ann McLain of Virginia Beach; his mother, Martha Krasselt McLain of Clarkston, Wash.; and two sisters, twins Ella M. Heatherly of Everett, Wash. and Elsie M. Rader of Auburn, Wash. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edwin McLain Sr., and two brothers, Baby McLain and Robert E. McLain Jr.

A funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Henry J. McLain.
