Mrs. King was born in Gates County, N.C., and was a floor lady for Planter's Peanuts, Suffolk, for 15 years and a housewife in later years. She was a member of Cypress Chapel Christian Church, Suffolk, and the Nettie Harrell Sunday School Class. She was predeceased by her parents, Annie Byrum Ward and Edward Ward, and a son, Winfred J. King. She was the widow of Marion Butler King.
{REST} Survivors include a daughter, Christine K. Nelms, and two sons, Rufus Edward Powell and Ralph B. King, all of Suffolk; three sisters, Lucy Small of Chesapeake, Gene Blick of Norfolk and Margie Romanchuck of Northville, Mich.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Cypress Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. John R. Kimball and the Rev. Willis I. Dowling. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
