CRIME LINE

{LEAD} Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases:

\ VIRGINIA BEACH

{REST} On Tuesday, May 24, about 11:30 p.m., a 36-year-old woman was entering her apartment in the 3000 block of Kings Row Court when two men with guns approached her from behind.

The men forced her into her apartment where one of the men raped her while the other held a gun to her head.

Both men are described as white, in their 20s, about 6 feet tall, with beards, mustaches and shaved heads. The rapist has a scar under his left eye.

In April, a 42-year-old woman was attacked and stabbed in front of her home in the Witchduck Point section of Virginia Beach.

On Tuesday, April 26, about 4p.m., a woman parked her car in front of her home in the 4300 block of Alfriends Trail and was approached by a man with a knife. The woman blew the car horn, tried to get away, and was stabbed twice in the neck. The man then ran into the woods.

The woman is recovering, and police are still looking for the man responsible. He is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s, about 6 feet tall, with a thin build, and brown hair combed back.

\ \ CHESAPEAKE

In April police released this composite of a man who stole two rings valued at more than $1,100 from the Hecht's Department Store in Greenbrier Mall. On May 6, at around 2 p.m., the same man is believed to have committed another grand larceny at Reeds Jewelers in the 4200 block of Portsmouth Boulevard.

During this incident the suspect stole a 14K herring bone 20-inch gold chain.

Witnesses reported the suspect entered the store and after looking at several chains, he just walked out without paying the $575 the chain was worth.

The suspect is described as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 150 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and a medium build.

\ \ PORTSMOUTH

The Food Lion store at 1907 Victory Blvd., was robbed at gunpoint on two separate occasions and investigators believe the same person is responsible.

The latest of the two robberies occurred on Saturday, May 7, at about 8:15 a.m. The suspect walked into the store, displayed a handgun and demanded the money from the office and safe. The robber was last seen running behind the business.

The robber is described as black, in his late 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and having a slender build.

Investigators need help locating a man wanted for rape and aggravated sexual assault. The offense has occurred several times during a period from 1990 to October 1993. The victim, a relative of the suspect, reported the attacks to the police in April.

Investigators are looking for Vernon Harrell, 32. He is described as black, 5 feet, 4 inches tall, and weighs around 160 pounds. His last known address is in the 3000 block of Greenwood Drive.

He is known to frequent the 800 block of Seventh Street and the 900 block of Lincoln Street and may be driving a cream-colored Buick Regal. There are eight outstanding warrants on file for this man.

\ \ SUFFOLK

On January 28, a 1980 Buick, belonging to Geneice Robinson, was stolen from in front of her residence in the 1100 block of Forest Oak Lane in Suffolk.

Police officers spotted the vehicle and tried to stop the car.

The driver jumped from the car and fled.

Darrin Bondhill, 19, is wanted on charges of grand larceny. He is described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 185 pounds.

Bondhill's last known address was 560 Ashland Drive in Norfolk.

\ \ HAMPTON

On Feb. 13, shortly after midnight, the victims were traveling in a 1986 grey Ford Ranger pick-up on East Queen Street at the entrance to Hampton University. The victims had just passed a large crowd of people leaving the university after a sporting event.

At this time, according to witnesses, several shots were heard. The victim's pickup was struck three times and two of the occupants were injured.

The suspect is described as black, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds with a dark complexion. He was wearing a black leather jacket and white tennis shoes.
