{LEAD} Arthur ``Ned'' Netherland Sr. died June 17, 1994, at Pungo District Hospital.

Mr. Netherland was retired from Operating Engineers, Local 147, Norfolk.

{REST} Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Netherland; two daughters, Janie Netherland of Fairfield, and Cathey Swilley of Chesapeake; one son, Art Netherland Jr. of Missouri; two grandsons, Michael and Brian Swilley, both of Chesapeake; one brother; and four sisters.
