JOHN E. NEWBY SR.

{LEAD} John Edward Newby, Sr., 70, of the 500 block of Kenosha Ave., died Wednesday, June 22, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mr. Newby was born in Norfolk. He was a retired corporate vice president of Norfolk Marine Company and retired after 45 years of service. He was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church in Norfolk, Wards Corner Lions Club and the U.S. Power Squadron. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

{REST} Survivors include his wife, Hazel A. Newby; a daughter, Laurie N. Giles of Miami, Fla.; a son, John E. Newby, Jr. of Norfolk; and a granddaughter, Kristen Giles.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Gordon Nelson. Cox Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
