CHESSON MVP IN TWO SPORTS FOR INDIAN RIVER

{LEAD} Kim Chesson was named the most valuable player in two sports at a recent Indian River High athletic awards presentation. She was picked most valuable in girls basketball and girls track.

Latisha Grevious shared the basketball coach's award with Kenisha Hodges and was selected as Ms. Field Event in track.

{REST} Other basketball award recipients were Larena Rascoe, best defensive player; Christi Thrift and Deshawn Whitley, most improved players. In addition to Chesson, award winners in track were Cathy McNeeley, academic award; Ericka Moses, most improved, and Kara Moore, rookie of the year.

In baseball, Eddie Bynum captured both the best pitcher and the golden glove awards. Shawn O'Dell was named most valuable player and Jason Barnes was judged the most improved player. Duane Barnes garnered the coaches' award.

Other winners were:

Boys soccer: Sophen Phith, most valuable player; Jason Perry, most improved player, and Ritchie Gerorino, coaches award.

Girls soccer: Christin Johnson, most valuable player; Leanna Denson, coaches award, and Elizabeth Morgan, most improved player.

Boys tennis: Richard Linyear, most improved player; Derrick Scott, most valuable player, and Bobby Esposo, coaches award.

Girls tennis: Monnie Maholchic, most valuable player; Denis Williams, most improved player, and Stacey Seery, coaches award.

Indoor track: Daryl Cameron, boys most valuable player; Latasha Bond, girls most valuable player; Ernest Davis, academic award; Monique Hayes most improved player, and Mesha Ali, rookie of the year.

Wrestling: Norman Smith, most valuable player; Bryant Irby, team leader; Keither Reynolds, most improved player, and Matt Browning, most dedicated.

Boys basketball: Tony Morrison, most valuable player; Gerald Martin, leading scorer and leading rebounder, and James Boyd, coaches award.

Boys track: James Carter, most valuable player, and Sam Hardy, most improved.

Softball: Jamie Crook, most valuable player; Bonnie Maholchic, coaches award; Stacey Seery, best pitcher; Shannon White, best outfielder, and Kristy Bey, best infielder.
