THOMAS W. ADCOCK

{LEAD} Lieutenant Commander Thomas Wayne Adcock, U.S.N. (Ret.), 63, of 3333 Calumet Ave., Elkhart, Ind., died 10:45 A.M. Saturday June 25, 1994, in his home from ill health.

He was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Thomas A. Adcock and Dorothy I. Sullivan. He married Barbara J. Hanson Sept. 7, 1985, in Constantine, Michigan. He studied privately at the Arthur Jordan Conservatory of Music.

{REST} He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1948, and remained on active duty until his retirement in 1971. He experienced duty on five aircraft carriers and two heavy cruisers, during that time retiring as Commanding Officer of the Armed Forces School of Music in Norfolk, Virginia. During that time he performed for the following Presidents, TRUMAN, EISENHOWER, KENNEDY and NIXON and numerous foreign heads of state. President Nixon awarded him the Meritorious Service Medal for his service at the Armed Forces School of Music.

Commander Adcock came to Elkhart in 1975 for employment with the Gemeinhardt Co.

For the past eight years, he had been in the employ of United Musical Instruments, USA, Inc. with responsibilities for International sales. He retired from that position in August 1993 for reasons of health.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara J. Adcock; 2 sons, Thomas W. Adcock Jr. of Richmond, Virginia and Gary A. Adcock of Chicago, Illinois; 2 daughters, Mrs. Robert (Debra) Elder of Valencia, California, and Mrs. Tamara Adcock McClellan of Cleveland, Ohio; a stepson, Marvin L. Hanson of Vandalia, Michigan; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Larry (Debra) Palguta of South Bend, Indiana, and Mrs. Daniel (Virginia) Hanson of Bremen, Indiana; and 6 grandchildren. His parents and a sister, Rosalee Doyle, are deceased.

Calling will be 1 hour prior to memorial services at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman F.H. Service 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home/Body will be cremated. Minister Rev. Jim Barney, Constantine United Methodist Church, Constantine, Michigan and Captain William J. Phillips US Navy. Cremains will be scattered at sea. Memorials, Elkhart Community Hospice, Inc.
