Mrs. Carter was born in Washington, N.C., was owner and operator of Carter's Hair Salon and a member of New Community Church of God in Christ, Portsmouth.
{REST} Survivors include her husband, Arthur L. Carter, Sr.; three daughters, Lois Costin and Yvonne Taylor, both of Portsmouth, and Barbara Harrison of Suffolk, Va.; three sons, Arthur L. Carter, Jr., of Delmont, N.J., Cordell Carter of Seattle, Wash., and Tyrone Carter of Portsmouth; three sisters, Fannie Riddick and Annie Ruth Ore, both of Washington, N.C., and Ida Cox of Winterville, N.C.; four brothers, Randolph Ore, Jr., Willie Ore and John W. Ore, all of Washington, N.C., and Leslie Ore of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 53 grandchildren; and 20 great-grand-children.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at New Community Church of God in Christ by Bishop Ted Thomas. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Monday.
