Mr. Davis was born in Portsmouth. He was a member and organist of Prentis Park Seven Day Adventist Church. He was founder and director of the Angelic Choraleers, founder and director of the City of Portsmouth Ambassadors Chorus. He played for many churches, choirs, and choruses in the Hampton Roads area for over 20 years. He was a member of the Tidewater Chapter, James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop.
{REST} Survivors include his parents, Alice M. Davis and John L. Davis Sr. of Portsmouth; four sisters, Veronica Davis and Antionette Davis, both of Portsmouth, and Dorlores Oliver of Pemberton, N.J., and Jane Banks of Richmond; a brother, John L. Davis Jr. of Syracuse, N.Y.; five uncles; three aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Third Baptist Church by Pastor Colin Brathwaite Jr. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Corprew Funeral Home. The family will be at Third Baptist Church from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday for a wake service. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
