Mr. Covington was born in Tatum, S.C. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 32 years. He had been employed at Norfolk Community Hospital for 14 years and with the Norfolk city schools for two years.
{REST} Survivors include his wife, Sarah K. Covington; two daughters, Lydia B. Doxie and Annie D. Brown, both of Norfolk; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church by Dr. I. Joseph Williams. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. A wake service will be held at Metropolitan Funeral Service from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday. Friends will assemble with the family at 1 p.m. Saturday for the funeral processional to the church.
