Dorothy Buck McLawhorn, 62, of Chesapeake, died on June 30, 1994, in a Virginia Beach hospice after a long illness.
Mrs. McLawhorn was born in Norfolk and was a lifelong resident of the Tidewater area, where she attended St. Mary's Academy. She was a professional seamstress and owned and operated Custom Interiors by Dorothy for many years before retiring two years ago.
Mrs. McLawhorn was the widow of Richard E. McLawhorn of Virginia Beach. Survivors include three daughters, Diane M. Dodge of Virginia Beach, Carolyn D. Wilkinson of Chesapeake and Donna J. Shaw of Norfolk; and four grandchildren.
Dorothy was one of nine children of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Lee Buck of Norfolk. Surviving are one brother, C. Warren Buck of King of Prussia, Pa., and six sisters, Marylee B. Schaefer of Stone Mountain, Ga., Shirley B. Todd and Adrienne B. Neal, both of Virginia Beach, Rita Buck and Janet B. Dailey, both of Norfolk, and Nina B. Browder of Orlando, Fla. Her other brother, David E. Buck Sr., predeceased her in 1988. There are 31 nieces and nephews.
The graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, at 1 p.m. in Rosewood Memorial Park by Father Richard Mooney. The family will receive friends at 629 Edwin Drive, Virginia Beach, following the graveside services. Arrangements are by Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel.
