WCMS radio personalities Russ Cassidy, left, and Eric Stevens lower
a time capsule into the ground outside the station's studio in
Virginia Beach. The country music station celebrated its 40th
anniversary last week by burying memorabilia from country stars such
as Johnny Cash, Alabama, Reba McEntire and Garth Brooks. In
addition, Mayor Meyera Oberndorf was on hand to proclaim WCMS Day.
Other Hampton Roads cities, as well as the state, also proclaimed it
WCMS Day. The time capsule will remain in the ground until 2019. The
station is at 900 Commonwealth Place in Virginia Beach.
