Gertie Mae Banks of the 2700 block of Marlboro Ave., a housewife, died June 30, 1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mrs. Banks was born in Wilson County, N.C., a member of Monticello Baptist Church in Norfolk and Mother of the church. She was a member of Norfolk Eureka Temple 1B and the widow of Andrew A. Banks.
Survivors include three daughters, Josephine McKay, Nannie Lockett and Johanna Parks; and five sons, Albert Banks, Andrew Banks, Kenneth Banks, Charles Banks and Marshall Banks, all of Norfolk; 48 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday at St. Mark's R.Z.U.A. Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Ben Thomas and the Rev. Anthony Haynes. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The body will be ready for viewing at 3 p.m. Monday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. The family will assemble at the residence at 11 a.m. for the processional.
