If you enjoy the simple Yuppie pleasure of talking on your car phone tax-free, then you'd better head to the City Council meeting tonight.
Council members will consider adding a 10 percent tax to residents' mobile phone bills. The tax will be limited to the first $30 of the total monthly bill, meaning people could expect to pay an extra $3 a month in taxes for a mobile phone.
A change in state law allowed the council to begin charging the tax this year. City Manager V. Wayne Orton, in a letter to the council, endorses the new tax.
The public hearing begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall. by CNB
